SITE HISTORY AND AWARDS

Velocity Motorsports was conceived in April 1996 and initially focused on Papyrus' original NASCAR Racing; before long it expanded to include IndyCar Racing II and shortly thereafter became devoted solely to it. In 1998, I decided to provide some coverage of the newer-generation sims as well, including Grand Prix Legends, Formula One Racing Simulation, NASCAR Racing 3, NASCAR Legends and Sports Car GT. For the site's next incarnation I opted to limit coverage to open-wheel sims, allowing me to focus on Grand Prix Legends and Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 in addition to the ageless and evergreen IndyCar Racing II. In 2001 the site provided more general racing-sim coverage, and incorporated ACT LABS RS Shifter and snapshot gallery sections. Currently much of this information remains intact, with in-depth sim coverage limited to F1 Racing Championship, Grand Prix Legends, and ... yes, IndyCar Racing II, which has been backbone of Velocity Motorsports since the early days.

It's been extremely gratifying to watch Velocity Motorsports grow from its humble little beginnings in mid-1996 into what became one of the premiere IndyCar Racing II sites on the Web, and is now one of the only remaining sources of information and files for ICR2. Truthfully, with all the sim sites that have come and gone between then and now, it's an honor to still be around at all.

I'm very grateful for the recognition which the awards below represent, and for all of the compliments folks have taken the time to pass along over the years. Regardless of how the site continues to change, the ICR2 section will remain intact.
