CONCORD PACIFIC PLACE

LOCATION: Vancouver, BC
TYPE: temporary street circuit
LENGTH: 1.677 miles
RACE DISTANCE: 102 laps (171.054 miles)

SETUP NOTES: This is a flat, relatively fast, predominantly low-downforce circuit which moves in a clockwise direction. Use tight gear ratios for the corners. Set 6th gear up on the front straight extending from the start/finish line. Turns 3 and 10 require some extra wheel lock, so try not to overcorrect through the other corners. Note that the tighter corners bend to the right. Use some forward brake bias here, and try to run the turbocharger at position 6 or 7.

A LAP: In high gear as you leave the start/finish line, continue accelerating through turn 1, a gentle left, and the long straight that follows. After passing under the Cambie Bridge the pavement winds to the right in turn 2. Start braking as soon as you complete turn 2, before the markers that appear ahead. Downshift to 1st and take the turn 3 hairpin to the right. When you've safely crossed the apex, get back on the gas and gradually climb to 5th gear as you duck beneath the Nelson Street overpass. Just as you reach 5th, you'll be at the chicane, which you'll need to take in 2nd. Downshift and cut to the left, then to the right. The chicane's exit will take you back to the left, and you can begin upshifting again hard at this point. The trip through the tunnel will slightly bend to the right beside the football stadium, and you'll easily make it back to high gear. Just beyond the stadium, the road makes a curve to the left at turn 7. Downshift to 3rd and skate around this corner, then drop down to 2nd gear and take number 8, a slow right-hander. As soon as you've dispatched the 8th corner, step on the gas again for a wild ride under the massive concrete overpasses. This heart-stopping stretch will veer left, then right at turn 9; keep the throttle wide open as you sail through number 9, where you'll immediately spot the turn 10 braking markers on your left. Drop to 1st gear and brake hard for the number 10 hairpin, a sharp right; you might consider an overtaking attempt here if you're close enough. Once you've cleared the corner, get back up to 6th as quickly as possible for the speed-intensive front straight.
